1 Scope

This Policy applies to all Workers of Are Media in Australia and New Zealand.

2 Purpose

Are Media places the utmost importance on the work health and safety of all Workers and visitors to Are Media.

3 Are Media responsibilities

The promotion and maintenance of work health and safety is primarily the responsibility of Are Media. Are Media is required to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of Workers. In particular, Are Media is responsible for providing and maintaining:

(a) a safe working environment;

(b) safe systems of work;

(c) facilities for the welfare of all Workers and visitors; and

(d) any information, instruction, training and supervision needed to make sure that all Workers are safe from injury and risks to their health.

4 Worker’s responsibilities

All Workers are responsible for:

(a) ensuring their own personal health and safety, and that of others in the Workplace;

(b) complying with any reasonable directions (such as safe work procedures, wearing personal protective equipment) given by Are Media for health and safety; and

(c) reporting any health and safety incident, near miss, or pain or

5 Program of procedures

In order to implement the provisions of this Policy, a program of procedures will be set up, updated and implemented. The program will relate to all aspects of work health and safety, including:

(a) workplace health and safety training and education;

(b) work design, Workplace design and safe work practices;

(c) changes to work methods and practice, including those associated with technological change;

(d) safety rules, including penalties;

(e) emergency procedures and drills;

(f) provision of workplace health and safety equipment, services and facilities;

(g) Workplace inspections and evaluations;

(h) reporting and recording of incidents, accidents, injuries and illness; and

(i) provision of information to Workers and workplace health and safety

8 Definitions

In this policy, the following terms have the following meanings.

Are Media means Are Media Limited and its related bodies corporate/related companies.

Policy means Are Media’s Work Health and Safety Policy.

Workplace means a place where work is carried out or is customarily carried out for Are Media and includes any place where Workers go, or are likely to be, while at work, including home work locations.

Worker means an employee or an independent contractor.

Employee is an individual who is engaged via an employment agreement with Are Media.

Independent contractor is an external partner who provides services to Are Media and is engaged under a contract for services. Independent Contractors include editorial contributors and labor hire workers.
