Introducing our new Cookie, Tracking & Targeting Policy

We’ve introduced a new Cookie, Tracking and Targeting Policy, effective 2 April 2026.

As a digital publisher, advertising plays an important role in allowing us to create and share the trusted content you enjoy online. At the same time, we know that advertising technology has become more complex over the years—and that understanding how data is used can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve introduced this policy: to be clearer, more transparent, and to give you better tools to manage your choices.

Our new policy explains, in plain language, how cookies and similar technologies are used across our websites. Some of this information previously sat in our Privacy Policy, but we’ve brought it together in one place and expanded it so it’s easier to understand what’s happening and why.

In summary, here’s what you should know:

  • What we mean by “cookies”
We use cookies and similar technologies—such as pixels and web beacons, local storage, device advertising IDs, device fingerprinting, conversion APIs and email cookies—to understand how our services are used and to improve your experience.
  • Why we use them
These technologies help power essential website features (like navigation, logging in, newsletters and shopping carts), measure how our sites and campaigns perform, prevent fraud, remember your preferences, and support the delivery of content and advertising that’s more relevant to you. Advertising revenue helps us keep much of our content accessible and free to read.
  • The types of cookies we use
We use strictly necessary, analytics, functionality and advertising cookies. Some are session based (they expire when you close your browser), while others are persistent and remain for a set period or until you delete them.
  • Third party partners
Some cookies are set by trusted partners who help us deliver services such as analytics, A/B testing, login and email services, and advertising (including ads shown on our sites). These partners may also set their own cookies when you interact with our content, including advertisements.
  • Your choices and opting out of targeted ads
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser or device settings and, in some cases, through optout tools provided by our partners. Please note that blocking certain cookies may affect how our websites function and reduce personalisation.

Importantly, while the technology behind digital advertising continues to evolve, our commitment to protecting your privacy does not. We are focused on being transparent about what we do and giving you meaningful choices about how your information is used.
